A new trend: Wire cloth made from flat wires
New shapes and colors of architectural wire cloth are coming along regurlarly . The lastest trend is the use of flat wires, even in combination with round wires or cables.
Flat wires have one big advantage: They are lighter, but still cover a larger area than equivalent round wires. Therefore the use of flat wires is recommended for wire cloth specifications with smaller open areas. Still the wide application range of flat wires allows for the creation of transparent and flexible designs.
LARGO-PLENUS
Especially dense specifications with a flat surface can be manufactured with vertical and horizontal flat wires. These specifications are best suited for many different design applications. With LARGO-PLENUS 2014 design-tables by Max & Dirk Interior Systems get their very own character.
In addition specifications with wider flat wires or higher open areas can be created.
LARGO-FLEX
Flexible but still strong specifications can be created when combining vertical cables with horizontal flat wires: LARGO-FLEX can be used in all areas - from large facade constructions to filigree design projects. The design of the meshes can be adjusted in such a way, that they are almost completely dense with a frontal view, or they appear semi-transparent with a certain distance between the flat wires. The number of cables in one clusters determines distinctive the vertical structure appears.
LARGO-NOVA
Similar design as LARGO-FLEX, in which the cables are replaced by solid wires. Throughout the width, the mesh can be manufactured entirely with round wires creating a uniform surface. The flat wires give us the chance to adjust the open area precisely to your request, especially in the range of 10 to 30%.
Alternatively a certain number of round wires next to each other creates a dominant vertical structure, as in our new specification LARGO-NOVA 2017: Nine wires creates one warp cluster.
In September and October 2005 the "Weaving Ideas" Team will install a facade - made from LARGO-NOVA 2017 - at the new Leibnitz Computer Centre in Munich. Elements with a length of up to 27 meters will then decorate the facade with a stainless steel skin. In the next edition of our newsletter we will present you this project in detail.
